OhioHealth Adds New Testing Site and Programs at Wexner Heritage Village
Significant Expansion of Services with More Convenience for Patients
BEXLEY, OH - OhioHealth has further expanded its services this month with the opening of a general x-ray and laboratory testing across the hall from the OhioHealth primary care practice at Wexner Heritage Village.
The new diagnostic testing location, known as Bexley Health Services at Wexner Heritage Village, "represents a significant expansion of our medical service," said Sanford Melmed, MD, who provides primary care and also serves as medical director for Wexner Heritage Village. "Instead of having to travel elsewhere for these tests, patients can have them right here in a single visit."
Currently, OhioHealth services at Wexner Heritage Village include:
· Laboratory (testing for cholesterol, blood sugar, liver and kidney function, etc.)
· X-ray (diagnose fractures, pneumonia and heart failure, among other conditions)
· Bexley Primary Care
The new blood draw and specimen collection lab station and general x-ray capability at Bexley Health Services are open to the community as well as residents, patients and employees of Wexner Heritage Village. "Even if patients have another physician, they can still come here with their doctor's orders for their blood work and x-rays," Dr. Melmed said.
"Our residents realize the ultimate convenience of staying close to home for their medical needs," said David Rosen, president and chief executive officer of Wexner Heritage Village. "Our partnership with OhioHealth is truly unique in our industry. It is one more way we are able to fulfill our mission to serve the needs of an aging society."
About Bexley Primary Care
Dr. Melmed's OhioHealth practice, still located inside the Harry and Pearl Polster Medical Center, has changed its name to Bexley Primary Care at Wexner Heritage Village. "We feel the new name better reflects both the primary care service we provide to the community and OhioHealth's continued relationship with the residents, patients and employees of Wexner Heritage Village," Dr. Melmed said.
The practice continues to offer same-day appointments with little or no waiting and a quick turnaround time as well as walk-in hours from 1-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Falls Prevention Program
Bexley Primary Care introduced a Falls Prevention Program to help individuals decrease their risk of falling and improve quality of life. The program is designed for anyone with a history of falls or trouble with dizziness, lightheadedness, balance, etc.
